Finishing MOQs are per route, not one number

Buyers ask for one MOQ and get a different number per route. Here is why greige, bleach, dye, print, and emboss do not share a floor.

Finishing MOQs are per route, not one number

Buyers usually ask one question — “what is your MOQ?” — and expect one number. On polyester home-textile programs there is no single answer: the floor is set by the finishing route, not by the cloth. Stock greige can ship with no minimum; the same greige dyed or embossed carries a floor in the thousands of metres.

MOQ by route

RouteFloorWhy it sits there
Stock greigeNo minimumAlready woven and on the floor
Custom greige5,000 mNew width, GSM, or weave is made to order
Bleaching (white)2,000 mWet range run, but a simpler chemistry than dye
Piece dyeing3,000 mColour is set per lot; the dye bath is the setup
Digital printNo minimumNo screen or cylinder to set up
Rotary / disperse print5,000 mScreens or cylinders set up per design
Embossing5,000 mA patterned roller is engraved per texture
Functional treatments5,000 mFinish chemistry and pad-line setup per spec

These are our route floors, not a promise that any construction exists at any point inside them. Confirm on quote.

Why the floor moves

Three things set the number:

  • Setup. A dyed lot needs a dye bath; a printed design needs a screen or cylinder; an embossed texture needs an engraved roller. Greige needs none of that.
  • Run length. Wet and print lines are economical over a run. Below the floor, the setup is spread over too few metres.
  • Per specification. The floor applies to one colour or design. Three colourways are three setups.

What to put on the RFQ

  • Route — stock greige, custom greige, bleach, dye, print (digital or rotary), emboss, or a finish
  • Colour count — how many colourways, since each is its own floor
  • Width and GSM — after finishing, not greige (see finished vs greige GSM)
  • Order timing — a stock-greige trial and a printed bulk run are different lead times

Start from the greige program when the base is still open, or the peachskin route when the hand is the point. If you are weighing print methods, digital vs rotary covers the setup and fastness trade-off. Need the number for your spec? Request a quote.

Questions buyers ask

Why is greige cheaper to start than dyed or printed cloth?
Stock greige is already on the floor, so it can ship with no minimum. Dyeing, printing, and embossing each set up a run for your colour or pattern, so they carry a per-specification floor.
Is the MOQ per order or per colour?
Per single colour or specification, unless agreed otherwise. Two colours on one order are usually two floors, not one.
Does digital print really have no minimum?
On our route, yes — digital print has no minimum. Rotary and disperse print carry the higher floor because they use screens or cylinders set up per design.
