C6 Stain-Resistant (Water, Oil & Soil Repellent) Polyester Fabric: Wash Durability & Spec Sheet Guide

How contract upholstery, dining-chair, and drapery buyers specify C6 three-proof (water, oil, and soil repellent) 100% polyester fabrics across 120–260 GSM and 150–280 cm widths.

Water and oil droplets beading cleanly on the surface of a C6 stain-resistant woven polyester upholstery fabric.

Contract furniture manufacturers, hospitality seating specifiers, table-linen converters, and outdoor cushion brands rely on three-proof stain-resistant finishing (三防整理: water, oil, and soil repellency) to protect woven upholstery and drapery without sealing the back of the cloth with a stiff plastic film.

On Weaverine production lines, C6 stain-resistant treatment is our most frequently specified functional finish (5,000 m MOQ per color/spec), applied to 100% polyester plain, twill, dobby, and embossed base cloths woven on our 650+ waterjet looms.

1. C6 vs. C0 (Fluorine-Free) vs. PU/TPU Coating: Which Route Fits Your End Use?

Before writing a specification, choose the chemical route that matches both your stain threat (water vs. oil) and your destination market's regulatory rules:

SpecificationC6 Three-Proof Finish (三防)C0 Fluorine-Free DWR (无氟防水)Back-Coated / TPU Laminated
Water Repellency (AATCC 22)≥ 90 initial · ≥ 70–80 after 20–30 washes≥ 80–90 initial · ≥ 70 after 10–20 washes90–100 surface + 1,500–5,000 mm H₂O (ISO 811)

2. Standard Lab Targets for a Contract Stain-Resistant PO

When ordering stain-resistant polyester for upholstery, dining linens, or contract drapery, bind every claim to an international test method and a specific wash count:

3. How Pad-Dry-Cure Finishing Works on the Mill Floor

Unlike a spray-on consumer protector, mill-level C6 finishing is locked into the polyester filament during stenter heat-setting:

  1. Scouring & Clean Preparation: Any residual spinning oil or cationic softener left on the PFD base cloth blocks fluorocarbon bonding and causes uneven blotches.
  2. Pad Application (Pick-up 65%–75%): The dyed or printed fabric passes through a chemical padder containing the C6 dispersion (20–45 g/L) plus a blocked-isocyanate crosslinking extender that anchors the finish to the PET surface.
  3. Stenter Drying & Curing (170–185 °C for 45–60 s): High heat evaporates water, crosslinks the polymer network around every filament, and simultaneously heat-sets the fabric's finished width (150–280 cm) and dimensional stability (<3% shrinkage).

You can combine C6 three-proof finishing (5,000 m MOQ) with any of our woven bases:

Questions buyers ask

What does C6 three-proof (stain-resistant) mean in polyester textiles?
Three-proof (三防) means the fabric is padded and heat-cured with a short-chain six-carbon (C6) fluorocarbon finish that lowers fiber surface energy below both water and oil—repelling water droplets (AATCC 22), cooking and skin oils (AATCC 118), and dry particulate soil on a single breathable cloth.
What is the difference between C6 and C0 (fluorine-free) water-repellent finishes?
C6 finishes repel both water (AATCC 22 ≥ 90) and oil/grease (AATCC 118 Grade 4–5). C0 fluorine-free finishes (silicone, paraffin, or dendrimer based) achieve strong water beading (AATCC 22 ≥ 80–90) and meet strict PFAS-free retail mandates, but do not repel oil (scoring 0 on AATCC 118).
How many washes does a C6 stain-resistant finish last on woven polyester?
When pad-applied with a crosslinking booster and cured on a stenter at 170–185 °C, Weaverine's C6 finish retains commercial water and stain repellency across 20 to 30+ domestic wash cycles (ISO 6330), and restores beading after low-heat tumble drying or pressing.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for C6 stain-resistant fabric?
Custom C6 stain-resistant finishing on dyed or printed polyester fabrics starts at 5,000 linear metres per color or specification across 150–280 cm finished widths.
