What is dobby fabric?

Dobby fabric carries small geometric figures—dots, diamonds, bird's-eye, fine grids—woven into the cloth on a dobby loom, so the texture is structural rather than printed or embossed. The dobby mechanism selects warp groups in programmed sequences, which keeps subtle repeats affordable compared with full jacquard.

On our waterjet mill the dobby runs as a head on the existing loom rather than a separate hall, which is how constructions like satin stripe are produced. When you request a quote, freeze the motif or design code, repeat size, face versus back, fiber and yarn, GSM, and finished width—"dobby" alone does not define goods any mill can quote. Custom woven programs start at 5,000 meters per specification, and every new motif should be approved on a woven sample.
