How to choose the right polyester fabric for bedding?

Selecting the right polyester fabric for bedding involves balancing your target price point, the sensory expectations of your end customer, and the practical demands of the finished product. Because 100% polyester is highly versatile, the weave structure and finishing process make all the difference between a budget sheet set and a premium bedding collection.

Peachskin — the Industry Bestseller

For most global home textile brands, Peachskin is the undisputed top choice for bedding. During finishing, the fabric surface is lightly sanded by fine-grit rollers, breaking and lifting individual fibers to create a distinctive soft, peach-fuzz nap that closely mimics the hand feel of high-thread-count cotton. The result is lightweight, breathable, and highly cost-effective—which is why peachskin has become our number-one export product for sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases.
Our peachskin is produced at 75–120 GSM in widths up to 280cm, covering single through king-size bedding without seaming. Because the softness comes from a permanent mechanical process rather than a chemical coating, it will not wash out over time.

Standard Microfiber (Plain or Twill)

If your primary concern is budget, standard plain weave or twill weave microfiber without the sanding treatment is an excellent entry-level option. You lose the ultra-soft surface of peachskin, but the fabric remains durable and colorfast, making it well suited for promotional bedding lines, basic hotel textiles, or as a cost-effective base for digital printing.

Washed Cotton Finish

For brands targeting a modern, relaxed aesthetic, a washed cotton finish on polyester creates a slightly crinkled, lived-in texture that resembles natural linen or washed percale cotton—despite containing no cotton at all. The pre-crinkled surface requires zero ironing and naturally hides minor wrinkles from everyday use, which consumers genuinely appreciate. This finish is increasingly popular for boutique bedding collections and direct-to-consumer brands.

Functional Treatments for Added Value

The finishing stage is also where you can add functional performance to differentiate your product. The most popular options for bedding include:
  • Stain-resistant (三防): Our most requested treatment. A C6 eco-friendly coating repels water, oil, and common household stains—particularly valuable for children's bedding and white duvet covers. Durable for 30+ wash cycles.
  • Moisture-wicking: Essential for summer bedding collections or warm climates. This treatment alters polyester's natural hydrophobic character, pulling sweat away from the body and drying 50% faster than untreated fabric.
  • Antibacterial & anti-mite: A strong selling point for health-conscious consumers or children's bedding, inhibiting dust mites and bacterial growth between washes.
Multiple treatments can be combined on a single fabric (for example, stain-resistant plus antibacterial). All functional treatments require a 5,000-meter MOQ per specification.

Choosing the Right Weight (GSM)

For standard bedding sets, a weight between 80 and 110 GSM delivers the best balance of drape, durability, and hand feel. Lighter fabrics in the 60–75 GSM range are typically used for budget or promotional lines where cost per meter is the priority. Heavier weights of 115–120 GSM provide a more substantial, premium-feeling drape and are often specified for hotel-quality duvet covers.
