Seersucker
A puckered cotton weave with alternating smooth and gathered stripes. Weaverine does not weave cotton seersucker; polyester buyers usually spec dobby texture or washed-cotton crinkle instead.

Seersucker fabric is a cotton weave with alternating smooth and puckered stripes. The pucker is structural: one warp set feeds with slack so those stripes gather while the ground stays flat. The goods are almost always cotton or cotton-rich, sold for summer shirting and lightweight bedding.
Weaverine does not weave it. The mill runs 100% polyester on waterjet looms—cotton seersucker needs a cotton system the mill does not operate.
Best uses—and the polyester stand-in for each
Summer shirting chases the airy pucker; home-textile buyers usually chase easy-care bedding or textured curtains instead. Match the job: dobby weave texture for a small woven figure, washed cotton for a soft lived-in crinkle with easy-care polyester underneath, or a plain ground at the target GSM when the pucker was only ever about summer hand. Approve the alternative on a sample with fiber, GSM, width, and finish written down—custom programs run from 5,000 m per specification.
Common questions
What is seersucker fabric?
- Seersucker is a cotton weave with alternating smooth and puckered stripes. The pucker comes from differential warp tension, and the cloth is almost always cotton or cotton-rich.
Does Weaverine weave cotton seersucker?
- No. Weaverine is a 100% polyester weaving mill on waterjet looms. Buyers chasing a seersucker-like hand for bedding or curtains usually approve a polyester dobby texture or washed-cotton crinkle on a sample instead.
What polyester alternative replaces seersucker?
- Name the job: airy summer hand, puckered look, or easy-care bedding. Then approve dobby texture, washed-cotton finish, or plain ground at the target GSM and width—custom programs from 5,000 m.
