Wide-Width Polyester Fabric
An evaluation page for bedding and curtain buyers. Understand why fabric width drives panel construction, when a wide-width base of up to 330cm is worth specifying, and what to review around greige versus finished widths before quoting.
What wide-width polyester fabric is
Wide-width polyester fabric is woven on looms built for broader reeds, producing greige widths from 160cm up to 330cm in a single piece. For home textiles, width is not a cosmetic spec: it determines whether a king-size sheet or a full-drop curtain can be cut from one panel, or has to be seamed from two.
- Greige widths from 160cm to 330cm, woven in one piece on waterjet looms
- Plain and twill weaves at 55 - 120 g/m² greige weight
- Designed for bedding, curtain, and other panel-driven home textile products
When buyers specify wide-width
Choose wide-width when
Wide-width is usually worth specifying when the finished product is a large panel and a center seam would hurt quality, appearance, or labor cost.
- King and queen bedding needs to be cut seamless from a single width
- Curtains are railroaded so the fabric width becomes the drop
- You want to cut sewing labor and fabric waste from panel joins
Standard width is fine when
Standard widths remain the simpler route when the end product never needs the extra span, or when downstream equipment limits what can be handled.
- The product is cut into small pieces, such as pillowcases or cushions
- Your printing, finishing, or sewing lines max out below wide widths
- An existing program is already engineered around a standard width
Why a 330cm capability matters
Most mills weave comfortably at standard widths; far fewer run looms wide enough to deliver 330cm greige. The difference shows up in the finished product: where panels are joined, and how much labor and fabric the joins consume. Our waterjet loom fleet is configured across the full 160cm to 330cm range.
Seamless king bedding
A king flat sheet or duvet cover needs roughly 280cm of usable width. Below that, factories seam two pieces down the middle, which buyers and end customers both notice.
Full-drop curtains from one width
Railroading curtain fabric turns the loom width into the curtain drop. A 330cm greige width covers floor-to-ceiling drops in most residential and hotel projects without horizontal joins.
Fewer joins, lower make-up cost
Every eliminated seam removes a sewing operation, a matching step, and a failure point. On volume bedding and contract curtain programs, that compounds into real cost and quality differences.
Specifications and customization boundaries
These are the baseline ranges buyers ask about most often for wide-width programs. Note that finishing shrinks the fabric slightly, so greige and finished widths should be planned together.
| Parameter | Range / Note |
|---|---|
| Material | 100% polyester |
| Greige width | 160cm - 330cm |
| Greige weight | 55 - 120 g/m² |
| Finished width | 150cm - 315cm after dyeing and finishing |
| Finished weight | 60 - 140 g/m² |
| Weave | Plain weave, twill weave |
Width is customizable within the range. Plan the greige width from your finished cutting width plus finishing shrinkage; we can confirm the right loom setup at quoting.
How buyers usually evaluate wide-width supply
True woven width, not cut width
Confirm the width is woven in one piece on a wide loom, not joined or stretched. Ask for the greige width and the usable width inside the selvedges.
Greige-to-finished width planning
Dyeing and finishing shrink width: 330cm greige typically finishes around 315cm. Work backward from your cutting marker to the greige spec.
Consistency across the width
Wide looms make uneven tension easier to see. Review GSM and shade consistency from selvedge to selvedge on samples and bulk.
Downstream compatibility
Check that your dye house, printer, or finishing partner can actually handle the width, or run finishing with the mill so the width never leaves one production chain.
When Weaverine can be a fit
You need seamless widths for bedding
Greige widths up to 330cm support seamless king and queen sheet sets and duvet covers, with finished widths up to 315cm.
You buy fabric for curtain drops
Wide widths suit railroaded curtain constructions for residential and hotel projects, and blackout treatment is available at the finishing stage.
You need volume at wide widths
600+ waterjet looms and 200,000+ meters of daily output mean wide-width is a production lane for us, not a special order.
You want weaving and finishing in one chain
We can take wide-width greige through dyeing, printing, and functional finishing, so width planning stays consistent from loom to finished goods.
